The World Cup Was Very Lucrative For William Hill
22/07/2010, Online casino
The World Cup was one of the best for bookmakers in 40 years. William Hill, the British bookmaker, has recently announced that the company's overall revenue for the first half of 2010 has been boosted by the World Cup Championship. William Hill has around 2,300 betting shops in Great Britain and Ireland. Chief Executive Ralph Topping said he has never seen such a strong performance at the World Cup Championship and such poor horse-racing results in the second quarter of the year. “Whilst it was our worst ever Royal Ascot, with a loss on the meeting, the World Cup proved to be one of the best for bookmakers in 40 years. Overall, we have seen a good Group performance in the period, with a particularly strong contribution from William Hill Online,” Ralph Topping said. Chief Executive Ralph Topping also suggested that the net revenue increased by 3% with a strong growth in the online business area and from gaming machines. William Hill's overall profit for the first half of year is of £135 million, compared with £143.6 million the year before. Most of the money came from the final match: Netherlands versus Spain, and from England's matches as well. William Hill's interim results for the first half of 2010 will be announced on 26th of August. Related news
