Richard Marcus – The Casino Cheating Legend – part II
15/01/2010, Players
Marcus will say “Yes, sir, that's my brown chip under those reds!”. The confused dealer will lift off the three reds and he will find a brown chip worthing $500. This brown chip, plus the three $5 red chips worth a $515 bet, which pays $1,030. The three red chips are placed on the top of the brown chip, but pushed slightly forward, so that the dealer couldn't see it, as in a brilliant optical illusion. If he loses, the stack is switched with a true stack of three red chips only. The switch can be done the moment when the dealer is turned toward the roulette wheel in order to see the winning number. Using this method, Richard Marcus tricked several casinos from Atlantic City, Las Vegas, London, Monte Carlo, etc, without even drawing too much attention on himself. Many other cheaters, found out about Marcus' theory and they used it without being prepared, or by doing something stupid. But Marcus was a “great talent”. Casinos are aware that “where there are games, there are cheaters as well”. The casinos spend huge amounts of money for detecting the cheaters. For example, they use a system which can identify the cheaters by a photo, which is already in their database. Or, there is another mechanism, which is able to transmit signals to the dealer for informing him about the number and value of each player's chips. Richard Marcus does not trust the casinos' anti-cheating systems. ”No person alive has ever been detected by the recognizing system, and it's not even necessary dressing up in foolish dress. That system isn't better than those people who operate it,” he says. However, Richard Marcus was discovered and sued. He is currently retired from his cheating career, he has his own website and he writes books about cheating. Related articles
