Poker Europa Magazine, the longest standing European poker magazine will be ceasing publication next month.
Poker Europa magazine was launched on January 1st 1999, the day that the Euro became the European official currency, as a free publication which provided information on world's poker related news and events.
“In this we succeeded. However, the increase of such information on the Internet, supplied as it happens, now makes print publications almost irrelevant. One thing I know about poker is when to quit the game and this is it.,” said Poker Europa founder Nic Szeremeta, honoured with a “Lifetime Achievement Award” at the European Poker Awards last month.
“Since the recession this [revenue] has declined by over 60 per cent. At the same time, our production and distribution costs have been rising…Mergers, acquisitions and closure of online card rooms have weakened our potential market… Operators of bricks and mortar poker rooms are also cutting their budgets.”
Poker Europa was a multi-lingual magazine and one of the first to publish European tournament listings and results. During the past 12 years, Europe's largest Poker Magazine brought to the poker fans from all around the globe, the latest updates and best deals of the Poker world.
