There are different types of poker players that can be easily recognized after playing with them even after a short period of time.
Being able to recognize your opponent, helps you to change your strategies during the poker games because each style has strengths and weaknesses.
There are four main categories of players: loose-aggressive, loose-passive, tight-aggressive and tight-passive.
Each type of player is based on the following main attributes: the tight players play very few hands, the loose ones play a lot of hands, the aggressive players raise and bluff and the passives call other players bets.
The Loose-Aggressive
These players have no problem going all-in. They will raise before and after the flop, they will consider raising a form of worship and play way too many hands.
They put pressure on their opponents to fold the winning hands.
These players are the high-rollers of the Texas Hold'em and the best of them can even mix the aggressive with the passive play, so it is hard to read their hands sometimes.
The Loose Passive
This player is also know as the “calling stations” or the “Fish”. He calls almost any bet you place.
He will play too many hands and then he will continue to call bets even when the correct play would be to either fold or raise.
The Tight-Aggressive
These players bluff occasionally only and they play good hands. But once they get a good hand, they become aggressive.
This type of player is maybe the most successful of all.
The tight-aggressive player knows the starting hands very well and play with the correct starting hands in the correct positions.
The Tight-Passive
The tight-passive player will not raise or call unless he has a very strong hand. He will rarely take risk on his hand.
He is very easy to figure out, he never bluffs and you don't have to worry about him.
If he has a decent hand or a lot of outs, he will surely call your bet or even make a small bet.
