Canadian Online Players Spend $9,903 On Gambling Yearly
16/11/2010, Players
An independent study conducted in Quebec, Canada, found out that there are 86,000 online players who gamble an average of $9,903 per year. Online gambling is extremely popular in Canada and most of the gamblers play online games with non-local operators, because the state legalized operator does not offer online gambling. The same study found out that 32.9 percent of the adult players who gamble online smoke pot as well. Most of the Quebec's online players are the unmarried males below 44 years old. Occasionally players spend a far lower average of $527 each year. The median annual online betting amount is of $856, which is significantly less than the average online betting of $9,903. Figures prove a small rate of online high-rollers who spend significant amounts on internet gambling. The results of the study are based on a telephone survey on 11,888 subjects. The telephone survey was conducted in the summer of 2009, with interviews lasting 12 minutes each. The complete study, which costs $500,000, will be released by 2014. Its purpose is to collect enough information for preventing, supporting and treating gambling problems. Related articles
