$30 Million Lottery Disappointment
02/03/2010, Casino

A group of 40 Brazilian lottery players who thought they had won a giant prize pool of $30 million jackpot, celebrated their luck last week.

Unfortunately they soon discovered that there was no money to divide, as the seller of the lottery tickets had not registered their ticket at the national lottery organization.
Since the winning numbers were not entered into the national lottery computer system, their win was not official.

“We know that the ticket was paid for and if the ticket was not properly issued then fraud was committed,” said Clovis da Silva, a local police chief.

The government financial agency responsible for the lottery suspended the shop which sold lottery tickets in the southern city of Novo Hamburgo. The 40 Brazilian players which were scammed are now looking at launching a lawsuit against the shop.
