Alain Cousineau, the Chief Executive Officer and President of the Loto-Quebec organization, submitted a proposal to the provincial government of Quebec, for offering online gambling in partnership with the four Atlantic provinces (Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island) and the British Columbia, which are already offering Internet gaming. Loto-Quebec is planning to offer online poker and sports betting next year.
Dean Montour, the Chairman of the Kahnawake Gaming Commission, commented on the fact that Quebec is ready to get involved in the industry:

“The fact that Quebec is now entering the online gaming business in partnership with the Atlantic provinces and British Columbia is an indication that the industry is thriving and is gaining wider acceptance. For over 10 years, the Kahnawake Gaming Commission has had a positive working relationship with online gaming regulators throughout the world and looks forward to sharing its knowledge and experience with the Régie des alcools des courses et des jeux.”

Studies showed that online gambling reported $25.3 billion revenue in 2009 and there are chances that the transactions to exceed $1 billion by 2012.
Alain Cousineau addressed to the Montreal Board of Trade recently by asking them to make the necessary regulatory changes in order to allow Quebec to enter the online gaming market.
He also spoke about the development of Loto-Quebec and about the economic benefits of its activities. Actual illegal transactions related to Internet gambling have been evaluated at $80 million in Quebec in 2009.

“We want Loto-Québec to be recognized as a model in Quebec with regard to overall performance and as a corporate citizen, but our ultimate goal is that the Corporation be recognized as a world leader in marketing responsible games of chance and money games,” Alain Cousineau mentioned.
