There are many myths and false beliefs which are circulating in the world of the slot machine.
Many of these myths are maintained by unscrupulous persons trying to obtain certain benefits from those who wish to beat the casinos. Many other myths have arisen spontaneously, based on a false logic.
Personally I think that most of the people do not know how slot machines work, especially the new automated ones. And for this reason, things are incorrectly interpreted.

The first and the most known myth is that the slot machines are operating on certain cycles. The fact is that the modern slot machines run by random number generators (RNG) that select the initial values from variables presented at the launch of the reels.
This means that when the player pulls the lever or presses the button to spin the reels, the generator emits a series of variables that will determine the final position of the reels. So, there are random variables rather than a cycle or a predetermined position that will determine the game. The main idea is that the player has total control over the game and don't forget that gambling is about luck, chance, hazard and fun.

It often happens that a player who leaves the machine is being succeeded by another player who win the jackpot. Many players are furious for leaving so soon the “right machine”. In fact, the belief that they could win the jackpot is also very incorrect, because the result has nothing to do with the number of the games which are played.
There is no indication that the player who left the machine would have got the right combination because the RNG picks the combination at an exact given time and it is unlikely that you would have stopped the RNG at the exact microsecond to display that exact same combination of numbers.

Some people say that we can increase our chances of winning if we use tickets instead of coins, but the truth is that using coins or banknotes doesn't matter.

Or, if someone just hit a jackpot on a slot machine, your chances of winning on this machine are considerably reduced and the machine will not hit another one for a long period of time. But winning the jackpot depends on your luck because slot machines hit jackpots at completely random times.

Other myths say that there are certain probabilities which also need to be denied. It is wrong to believe that all the possible combinations have the same chances to occur.
The truth is that such random numbers result in precise positions, and although certain numbers may appear more often than others, it depends on the calculations of the machine.

If you think that casinos can change the percentage payouts, you need to know that the slot machines have predetermined payouts because there is a computer chip in them which determines the pay back system.
This cannot be changed and there are rules and regulations set by the online gaming regulators in order to prevent such things. However, if you still have doubts, you can check the payback before playing and choose the slots with payouts of minimum 95%.

Love it, hate it, but you cannot just ignore this game. And the most amazing thing is that even those who hate the slot machines are tempted to give them a try.
