Hollywood Casino fined for underage gambling
20/11/2009, Casino
According to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, the first incident took place on the 4th of July, when a 20-year-old young man played the slots for over an hour, then on the 2nd of August a 19-year-old young man played the slots for 19 minutes and the last incident took place on the 15th of August, when an 18-year-old female played for over two hours on slots. The State Gaming Control Board accused Hollywood Casino for allowing the three underage patrons inside to gamble and fined the casino $24.000. The State law bans anyone under the age of 21 from playing slot machines. The fines are parts of an agreement between the Board and the Mountainview Thoroughbred Racing Association, which operates the casino. People under 21 year-old are not allowed to operate, or to use slot machines and those under 18 year-old are not allowed to enter the gaming floor. The State Gaming Control Board has levied fines statewide on six occasions for allowing underage gambling in the last two years, totaling $211.500. Underage gambling has always been a big problem for the United States casinos. Gambling industry leaders do not encourage underage gambling and work to prevent it by investing profits into gambling prevention and in treatment programs. Related news
