Frenchman Wins PokerStars EPT Deauville Main Event

Lucien Cohen was crowned the winner of the PokerStars European Poker Tour Deauville main event. The six-day event took place at the Casino Barrière in Paris and generated a record prize pool of €4,276,800. The 47 year-old poker player from Paris, who uses a toy plastic rat as a card protector, has managed to defeat a strong field of 891 players and win the first EPT title of the season and the €880,000 first place prize. It was for the first time ever when the Deauville trophy went to a Frenchman. Commenting on the luckiest moment of his life, Cohen said: “I’m very proud to be the first French EPT Deauville winner. It’s a very emotional moment. I want to say thank you to the organisers, the EPT and my opponents. This is one of the best days of my life after my wedding and the day my children were born. I’m happy, happy, happy. The Final Table Results and Payouts were as follows: 1. Lucien Cohen, France - €880,000; 2. Martin Jacobson, Sweden - €560,000; 3. Alex Wice, Canada - €330,000; 4. Julien Claudepierre, France - €260,000; 5. Kaspars Renga, Latvia - €200,000; 6. Kenny Hallaert, Belgium - €155,000; 7. Anthony Hnatow, France - €110,000; 8. Ruslan Prydryk, Ukraine - €66,800. Isildur1 Viktor Blom, Daniel Negreanu, Vanessa Rousso and Jonathan Duhamel also played in the EPT Deauville main event, but they failed to cash. “We had a record-breaking turnout with 891 players and there were some incredible performances – especially from our winner Lucien Cohen as well as runner-up Martin Jacobson,” EPT spokeswoman Kirsty Thompson said.
